Wilmington has some of the BEST Eastern skiing slopes on Whiteface Ski Mountain. That's right, White Face Mountain isn't in Lake Placid! Wilmington is a wonderful community just minutes away from the busy Lake Placid village, and quieter. No traffic lights, and no crowds; but a great place to rest in some of their local accommodations after a great day of skiing. Below are local businesses in the Wilmington Region (home of Olympic Whiteface Mountain). Please be sure to visit.
The town was settled in 1812 from sections of Jay, and was first named "Dansville". In 1822, it was changed to Wilmington. Today, tourism is the industry which includes the famous Whiteface and the children's favorite of "Santa's Workshop". Wilmington established a community of the North Pole, and a small hamlet of Haselton in its borders.
Please explore, and also enjoy the Olympic Town of Lake Placid and our "All American City" of Saranac Lake while you are off the slopes. If you are a local business, and have a service that may help our Internet visitors explore the Adirondack Park, please so we can post your business (free). By sharing, we better our world. Thank you. We appreciate reciprocal links! Please patronized our businesses. |
