Washington County Business Directory
Washington County is Adirondacks lush valley and famous farm country to our southeast area, and well worth the visit. We included the highlights of this great farm land. Even if it is a ride through the countryside, it will be enjoyed by the entire family. We welcome you stop in and be spontaneous! You'll be pleasantly surprised. Washington County also enjoys visiting its neighbors in Saratoga -the cultural hot spot of the North Country. Washington has miles of uncongested shoreline of Lake Champlain, Lake George and the Hudson River. The Champlain Canal cuts through Washington County, and the southern end has four recreational lakes (Hedges Lake, Lake Lauderdale, Carter Lake and Cossayuna Lake) the rivers of the Batten Kill and Mettawee River.
Washington County is rich in history. Fort Edward was the staging area for the British during the French and Indian Wars, and the Whitehall became the birth place of the US Navy. Washington County use to be part of Charlotte County in the 1700's and was land grant to Philip Skene.
